Feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and like you have no time to get everything accomplished each day?

Is it just me or are you feeling like it’s busy, busy, busy!  Summer always seems to make us busy bees with all of the activities and events going on.

I’ve actually been traveling a bit lately which we all know takes a toll on our bodies, in addition to the go-go-go pace.  Not only being in different time zones, but experiencing weather patterns (hello, hot and sticky humidity!), but also different sleep patterns due to a jam-packed schedule.

Of course while traveling, my to-do list grew which lead to more emotions and thoughts of “How am I going to get everything done?”  Sound familiar??  

So what did I do?

I RESTED.

Yep.  I took some down time for me. Quite the contrary.

And guess what?

In turn, I gained more clarity, entered a state of calm (reversed the state of overwhelm), was more present and found more enjoyment, almost as if I totally regrouped.  When I circled back to my GIANT TO-DO LIST, everything listed seemed more doable and not as intense.

Now, the OLD ME wouldn’t have done that.  I would have stuck to my busy, hectic, full schedule from sunrise to sundown.  But, listening to my body and resting my mind actually put me that much more ahead.  

What does that look like for you?  

Do you take time to rest?  This could be something as small as a 20-minute break, go for a walk, get off of social media, read a book, listen to a podcast, read the Word, listen to music……

Whatever thing you enjoy that you feel like you don’t have time to do, DO THAT ONE THING!  

Believe me, you’ll find the time.  Our lives have become so planned out that we easily forget what powerful tool keeps us going.  When our minds are busy, we don’t see clearly.

God called us to take time to rest.  Resting starts the journey of balance.  You become laser focused on your values instead of what things you have to check off of your list.  You start to live in the present, spending time with those you love or doing things you enjoy.

Whatever weights you’re carrying, try this week to take time to rest.  

Matthew 11:28 —
28 “Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
